I Was Sexually Abused.

Submitted by: Seductive

Q - Dear Annabelle,
When I was younger I was sexually abused by more then one person at different ages. Now in high school I have a chance to get back at one of my abusers. He is a 5th grade teacher who acts inappropriately towards his students. I knew then that he had done it before me and know now he still does. I feel if I could stop him from, hurting another little girl then I would be doing something.

My problem is my friends all think I'm nuts. Some say they'll back me & come forward as well others are bashing me for waiting so long. I want to do something & help some1 because no one helped me or those before me.

AM I wrong? My friends say just coming forward isn't Īhard evidenceā & nothing will be done. Can he get fired (*which is my goal or what I wish to do*) or will he just get a warning?

A - Dear Seductive,

I am troubled by your letter. Accusations of sexual abuse are very, VERY serious business. Are you sure of your facts? (Why do I ask?) Because, while sexual abuse certainly happens, to be "sexually abused by more than one person at different ages" is less likely to happen. That's one Īred flagā here.

Another Īred flagā is your handle, "Seductive __." What's that all about? Your letter suggests that, not only have you've told ONLY your friends about this, but that you've told a LOT of friends a lot about it. Some of your friends say one thing, some of your friends say another.

It's sounds like something Īexcitingā to talk about. Let's be honest enough to admit that Ītalking about getting the teacher firedā keeps you at the center of attention, and if you really do Īget him firedā, (and ruin his life), you phantasize that you'll be a heroine, a kind of a Īcelebrityā.

That's an awful reason to do this sort of thing.

Think about it.

You ask if you're Īwrongā. I have no way of knowing at this distance. But there are a number of things in your short letter that make me wonder. Be very, very sure that you're not wrong, before you start playing with fire......and people's lives......including your own.
- Annabelle
