Q - Dear Annabelle,
This year I met and fell in love with a guy and everything is going pretty good except he is afraid of letting me get to close to him. He's had past relationships that didn't work out, and he's afraid that I am going to hurt him. I can understand how he feels because I have been pretty hurt before in the past also. Is there anything I can do besides give him some time? I love him but it would be nice if he was able to say those words back to me!!! I know its hard to trust someone again, but sometimes I think he is not giving me the chance that I deserve. I know he has feelings for me, but he's afraid to show them.
A - Dear Becca,
You donât mention your age but, if youâre over 16, let this guy go! Learn now that people who lead their lives by their losses have learned to lean on a crutch and are sympathy seekers.......in other words, damaged people. If this fellow is so delicate that he canât face living out in the daylight of a real relationship, leave him for someone whose idea of a good time is Îhelping the poor dear learn to trust againâ. YOU deserve better......unless youâre a match. Are you?
- Annabelle
