Q - Dear Annabelle,
I met this girl at this store last week, and took a liking to her as soon as I first saw her. (And that doesn't happen that often with me.) I don't know what it was. Well, it was so strong that I went back several times to buy things there, (she works the cash register),
and I finally gave her a note that said I was really shy, and wondered if she would like to go out sometime. When I gave her the note, I was really nervous and watched her, and she smiled, then wrote her name and phone number on the back of the note and handed it back to me.
Since then, I've gone in there and talked to her a couple times, and she's pretty cool. I'd really like to go out with her, but she has a really busy schedule, (she said call on Friday). So I called her on Friday night, and she never answered. I left a message. I haven't heard back from her, and tried calling her again on Saturday to see if she would be up to hangout out somewhere or catching a movie, but she wasn't home again....that time I didn't hang on the phone long enough to leave a message.
I'm wondering if I'm just going down the wrong path again, or should I pursue this girl? She seems really cool, and I'm not the greatest at telling someone I like them, or asking people out. People told me I Īblew itā because I asked her out by handing her a note. If that were true, do you really think she would have given me her phone number? Or maybe she could be just doing that to get me off her back. I'm not the pressing type, and don't want her to feel awkward, (yeah right), around me.
A - Dear Tygre,
Yes, appealing young ladies do sometimes suddenly appear. (I think you did just the right thing.) Perhaps she would have preferred for you to wait for a quiet moment and ask her out in person...who knows? Young ladies are sometimes hard to understand ......sometimes even they donāt know what theyāre thinking. Perhaps if you could put yourself in the mind set that Īit doesn't matterā, (oh, yeah, right!), then you could just either speak to her at the store directly or hand her a note that said........äWeāre going out for pizza and to a film Friday night. Iāll pick you up at your house at 6 pm.ä For some reason, young women like a man who KNOWS what the Īdrillā is and feel comfortable with a Ītake chargeā kind of guy. (Itās really not as hard as it sounds.) Tthe problem youāre having is that THIS young lady really pushed your Īwowā button......so your tongue got all tangled and you.....blushed. Sigh,...thatās reality.
While I canāt retrieve this one for you, if you CAN just get out there and get more practice talking with girls in general, it would be of enormous help. Feeling Īshyā can, in fact, begin to grow if you donāt address it with as much enthusiasm as you have for your schoolwork and your future....itās something that you can Īpracticeā yourself out of. Like anything else, you need to Īput yourself out thereā and, soon, youāll find that being Īout thereā isnāt all that hard.....(itās sometimes just a matter of finding out that you can speak up and that you didnāt die in the process.) Truly, most people are so concerned that youāll notice their shortcomings, they havenāt the time, (or interest), to notice whatever you feel yours may be. Thatās just one of lifeās simple truths. Remember, in this life, you CAN if you think you can....and you WILL if you really want to.....
You can........ ; )
