Friend Acting Like A B****!

Submitted by: Holly

Q - Dear Annabelle,
Well, my friend is a.....well a bitch, lately. She doesn't know how to be really friendly. When I ask her to do something and she doesn't want to, she just says in a rude voice,"no". No Īsorry, next timeā, or Īnot todayā.

She is a snob and ignores me sometimes at school. (Yeah yeah. your are going to say she not a real friend though). But I miss the way she used to be. I want to tell her how I feel so she might change, but no fighting or her getting defensive, or whatever.

A - Holly,

Well, at 16, friendships CAN be difficult and emotional, ESPECIALLY among girls......so much change is going on. That your friend is acting badly is obvious......I donāt know what stress she may be under, yet she IS responsible for her ACTIONS..........and, from your description, this is NOT Īfriendlyā behavior.

You can assure her of your friendship and also tell her that her behavior is NOT conducive to continuing that friendship......put the onus where it belongs........on her.

Itās usually easier, at 16, not to change friends and, so, become Īstuckā with ones who are inappropriate. Look at yourself in your mirror and make the determination that YOU are worth having good, loyal, and positive friendships, put your relationship, such as it is, with HER on the Īback burnerā and go make some OTHER friends.........the world is full of good people, donāt allow yourself to be treated badly......itās not in anyoneās best interests.
- Annabelle
