Q - Dear Annabelle,
Should I declare bankruptcy this year? I have my ex-husband, who was left for dead,
still living with us after 4 years of nurturing and helping him get his life together. He is
constantly taking from me and our three children 12,10 and 6, all girls.
A - Dear Lonnie,
This is something that your tax lawyer can answer. Bankruptcy has very specific strictures, varying from state to state. It could be, too, that social services can be of help to you. You sound under great stress, and understandably so. I donât know what your educational level is, but the library will have some of the information that you need. If you do not have a tax lawyer, and there IS a legal aid group available to you, I recommend that you ask for their recommendations on this question.
It must be very hard on you to be the Îlead duckâ, as it were, and to keep everyoneâs spirits up. Coming from your highest and most noble self will be in your daughterâs best interests. If they see that their mom can rise above the stressful elements of life and find a good solution to a very difficult problem, they will have a much better chance of becoming emotionally healthy adults. Much good luck in finding what you seek.
- Annabelle
