Our Life Together Is Threatened.

Q - Dear Annabelle,
My husband and I came into a small settlement recently and now our life together is being threatened. He bought a Harley Davidson motorcycle. It does not run so he has had to put into a shop. More money. He has now taken time off from work during the trial period and has now been fired. Thank God we have a little money. He is irritable and does nothing but sleep. I know he is depressed but so am I. I am disabled and receive a little money each month. It will pay the rent only but nothing else. Help me please.

A - Dear Michelle,

Yes, it does sound as if your husband is depressed......has he had a medical check-up lately? (Perhaps he needs a psychiatric referral for meds). You donāt say how old you are, but the behavior you are describing sounds anger based.

At the very least, some time with a good marriage counselor would be advisable. ĪHelpā has to come from within yourselves.......from what you say you BOTH need to take action to move forward and not ricochet back and forth in the anger position. (Action is often a good Īcureā for depression). It helps, however to have someone to guide you both through this.

In a marriage financial decisions are made by BOTH parties.....otherwise, if there is dissension, thatās an indicator of hidden, or not so hidden, anger......and Īhidden angerā, turned inward, can manifest as depression.
