Q - Dear Annabelle,
My girlfriend of 4 years, spends a lot of time with male "friends", and she seems to always have an excuse not to have sex. I guess my question is what is your opinion on single males and females just being "friends".

From my experience the only reason people from the opposite sex hang around each other is because they once were or are sexually attracted to one another.

Have there been any studies done to show what percentage of males and females actually hang around each other as true friends (with no ulterior motive). Do sexologists have any reports on this? Maybe Dr. Kinsey has some research.

A - Dear Troubled,

There are many reasons a woman may prefer not to have sex, however that is not the question you asked.

Yes, there are true 'Platonic' relationships, though they are definitely not in the majority. At 22, a fully functioning male or female would reasonably be expected to have a healthy, normal sex drive. Note that I did not say a 'healthy normal sex LIFE'. Your girlfriend may prefer to remain celibate or she may be expressing her sexuality in other ways or with other people.

Without knowing more about the two of you and your general outlook on life, relationship to each other, other people, the world, etc., I cannot answer more specifically.

The French have a saying that is most probably very true......."Between a man and a woman, there is only ONE subject".......you may be, excuse the expression, barking up the wrong tree.

The good news is that the world is FULL of delightful people, work on making yourSELF the most fascinating person you can be and you will surely find women drawn to YOU!
