Q - Dear Annabelle,
I've been seeing this guy for about two weeks and now he's telling me he doesn't want to settle down. He won't talk to me so I can tell him I don't want to do that right now anyway. What should I do?
A - Dear Kim,
There's an old saying, "Always take a tip from the jockey". Translated, that means, when a guy says ANYTHING that sounds like 'no' -- BELIEVE him!
This may sound trite, but there's a whole world of wonderful men out there looking to have a relationship with a wonderful woman (you). (If you want to know a secret, WE can actually get along much better without men than they can without us). Ideally, of course, there's a friend and lover for everyone, but, in general, unless the gentlemen is severly damaged, -- (and those fellows you really don't want anyway) -- he wants a woman in his life. That's one of the reasons some of them are so cranky, they NEED us and knowing that, can come to resent it when we're not readily available.
Short answer: Become you're 'best self'* and go find someone who's IS available!
*Ms. Annabelle's definition of 'best self': You are very well educated, are passionate about your work, have developed your character so you can face temptation (enjoying it, yes?, giving in to it no! -- except chocolate, of course), give generously of your time and talents to those who will blossom through your efforts, and you LOVE life!
- Annabelle
