Q - Dear Annabelle,
I'm in love with this girl at school and she knows how much I love
her but she wonât go out with me and she says she loves me as well.
A - Dear Larry,
Hmmmmmm, so she wonât go out with you? In life, what people DO,
(behavior), and not what they SAY, is generally a good guiding
principle. It could be that sheâs just not really all that interested
in dating, perhaps her folks are against it, who knows?
At 17, youâre certainly young enough to find someone who can --
and will -- go places with you. If you find that a female who is
unavailable, (or less available), is more interesting to you, you are
either responding to basic male wiring or responding to a need, coming
from within yourself, to be attracted to a rejecting female.
Life is long, and this is the time in life to have lots of friends
of both sexes. Dwelling on what you DONâT have is generally not in
oneâs best interest. You might consider transferring your affections to
someone who IS more along the line of what you say you want. (Usually,
what is needed for a Îtransfer of affectionsâ is a substitute
person.....much more doable and less heartless, than it sounds).
- Annabelle
