A - Dear Deidre,
There's no such thing as 'old fashioned' -- there are
only individual people. What makes you uncomfortable
makes you uncomfortable, and that's all there is to it.
Speak up. Anyone who sincerely cares about you will
respect your comfort zone and find ways of expressing
emotion that you both enjoy.
