Lying About My Age.

Submitted by: Jason

Q - Dear Annabelle,
I have met a girl I really like. However, upon meeting her a few weeks ago I told her my age was 29 when it is really 31. I did this because she is 26 and I had the fear of rejection due to my age. I did not want to come across as desperate. Now that I am developing deeper feelings for her I feel I have to be honest but do not know how to tell her. I also fear she will end the relationship due to my lack of honesty. Can you suggest an easy way of telling her? I would be grateful for the advice.

A - Dear Jason,
I can completely understand your concern, and, at your age(s) being closer in age is more the norm. When youāve done something of this nature, since itās not, (really), a dreadful thing, after a, (relatively), short period of time, itās a good idea to do a bit of a Īmea culpaā. That means you just admit what you did. You can preface it with, ĪI was afraid you wouldnāt like me if you knowā sort of thing. If she likes you she may even find that flattering. We all want to be liked and I doubt that anyone has always been entirely truthful when wanting to attract a specific Īsomeoneā. Keep in mind that youāve used up your one Īfudgeā...no more not telling the truth.....trust me on this one!
