He Avoids Me Like The Plague.

Q - Dear Annabelle,
I recently moved from California to Pennsylvania to be with the guy I love. We get along great except for one thing. He likes to hunt deer and I'm strongly against it. I already knew this before I moved, but the reality of the situation causes me a great deal of pain. Not because he's gone for a week, but rather because he enjoys butchering healthy animals for fun.

I know some deer will starve come winter, but I can't stand the fact that my guy likes this "sport". I don't know why it hurts me so much but it does, deeply. I try talking to him about my feelings but he avoids me like the plague. The pain is overwhelming!

A - Dear Denise,

Guys who hunt.....hunt. Thatās just who this guy is. Youāre 30......you do NOT take a guy in this age group and expect him to change. Guys who hunt to so for good and sound reasons. Thatās just they way it is. This is WHO HE IS.....get it? Now, either get over it and stay or, welcome back to California.

I know this hurts you.....it would hurt me too. You still donāt get to make such a fuss over what is not going to change. You might consider working through your feelings with a good psychologist. It could be this is just not the guy for you. It could be that your aversion to hunting is a Īcoverā for something else. I don't know.

Iām in complete agreement with your sentiments, but, that youāve selected to move to where this fellow is KNOWING that this is who he is....well, thereās more going on here than meets the eye.
- Annabelle
